Trekking is one of the major attractions for travelers coming to Nepal. Known for the gigantic Himalayan ranges, there are plenty of tours to choose for adventurers to see the beautiful lakes and mountains of Nepal. But if you are one who craves to see nature’s breathtaking beauty firsthand, trekking is the way to go.

There are a large number of trekking opportunities in Nepal to choose from. You can trek through the sterile lands of Upper Mustang while stopping by to admire a local lake and camp overnight or just trek through the unbelievable mountain ranges and their respective base camps. Whatever your tastes, there is something for you. It’s important to be aware of the fact that the various trekking tours can differ greatly when it comes to difficulty level, cost, and time requirements.

To help you sort out your options, we have put together a list of 3 incredible trekking tours for you – the beginning adventurist.

POON HILL GHANDRUK LOOP TREK

The Poon Hill-Ghandruk Loop Trek is one of the most popular and relatively easy treks in Nepal. It’s a fairly short trek that offers the breathtaking views of high mountains from Poonhill such as Mt. Annapurna (8091m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), and many more snow covered peaks. Besides the amazing sites to see, you will also be able to experience some of the more unique local cultures along this route.

Poon Hill is widely known as a “Photographer’s Paradise.” The views of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna ranges are spectacular and you’ll want to make sure you have your camera so you can take home some of the best digital memories! Sunrise at Poon Hill is breathtaking.

The natural, historic, and religious elements of the Pokhara City culture are definite attractions as well. If you have an extra day, you can also visit Sarangkot and enjoy their world-famous paragliding.

Upper Mustang

The flight into the deepest gorge in the world means taking in more breathtaking views before setting foot on the ground. Upper Mustang is also known as the last forbidden kingdom of Nepal and the last bastion of Tibetan culture. It was only recently opened for trekking in 1992.

Upper Mustang is also similar to Tibet in landscape. You will find some amazing caves carved into sheer cliff walls and Buddhist monasteries from the 16th century that has been preserving the ancient Buddhist culture.

The trek itself doesn’t reach very high elevations and it isn’t the toughest trek, but it does have a history of producing super windy conditions in the afternoons and that can be quite challenging.

Three Passes Trek

If you’re a beginning trekker and you’re still looking for something challenging, then we have the trek for you. This is frankly one of the best treks in the world. You’ll be going through the Solo Khumbu via the three passes – Kongma La, Cho La, and Renjo La. You’ll come face to face with the tallest mountain in the world – Mt. Everest. The highest altitude you’ll reach is 5550m.

The main attraction of this trek is Everest Base Camp, but the three passes trek permits you to experience the best parts of the Solo Khumbu while also letting you interact with the welcoming Sherpa people.

These are the three of the most spectacular trekking destinations in all of Nepal and any one of these three will satisfy the adventurous hunger inside any beginning trekker. Heck, even the most experienced trekker will love these three choices.

Oh, and here’s the best part. There are still tons of other trekking tours to choose from. These are just our three recommendations. What’s your favorite? Comment below and let us know!
